I'm very excited to introduce Seastripes, a pretty crescent shaped shawl. Seastripes is just the thing for gradient or self striping yarns like the Caterpillargreen Shawl Stripes yarn shown in the top photo, or try your hand at using two colors like the elegant Fiber Optic Yarns version below. The pattern gives instructions for both.
Worked from the top down, Seastripes begins with relaxing garter stitch before moving into a pretty lace border. The final edge is worked with a crochet chain edging that creates a lot of drama with the simplest crochet imaginable. If you're one of those knitters who is a bit "crochet-phobic" give this edging a try. You may have already knit one of my designs that use the crochet chain bind off. If so, you will have no problem with this one. Examples of those patterns are Abingdon, Nefertem, Algiers, and Exuberance.
