Archives for August 2011

The Charles Collection

August 31, 2011 by Kirsten 18 Comments

Sorry for the radio silence. August has been a busy, busy month.

At the beginning of the month my girls and I traveled to Boston to join Amy Herzog & Elinor Brown, along with photographer Caro Sheridan for a photo shoot of a project we have been working on for almost a year.

The Charles Collection, a collaboration between Amy, Elinor and I, is almost ready for publication and I couldn't be more excited. Keep an eye on each of our blogs for updates and more photos.

August!?! Already!?!

August 1, 2011 by Kirsten 15 Comments

I think I forgot to post in July. . .

I suppose that means it's been a good summer. Busy at least. But now that I've got a few minutes to catch my breath it's time to get caught up on a few things.

First up, I'm very excited to have a pattern included in the most recent issue (Fall 2011) of Sockupied. The Sweet Maize Anklets are a quick, fun project perfect for those dog days. Small and portable, they'll fly off your needles whether you knit them at the beach, the pool or in the car on a summer getaway (not while in the driver's seat please). Or like me you may choose to knit them while listening to one of those college information sessions you go to when you cart your 17 year old child(ren) from campus to campus.

Of course these are not my summer knitting project. I designed and knit them last spring, with dreams of beachy weather dancing in my head. My go to project for this summer has been a fiery orange shawl that I'm designing using Studio June Yarns Super Cash Sock yarn that Jill sent for me to play with after we met at the Loopy Ewe Spring Fling.

New Shawl

I'm hoping to have the knitting done on this shawl by the end of the week. Then it will be pattern writing, editing and test knitting. Look for the pattern sometime in early Fall.

In the Works
Over in the Through the Loops Group on Ravelry we've been happily knitting shawls for the TTL Summer Shawl KAL. We've got some yummy prizes for a few lucky winners. First up is Sweet Fiber Yarn donated by the very talented Melissa. I cannot say enough good things about Melissa's yarn. Her colors are gorgeous and the base yarns she uses are of very high quality.

Two lucky winners will receive a skein each of Sweet Merino Lite in the color of their choice from Melissa's new jewel tone color range. Thanks Melissa for your generous donation!!

So what have you all been knitting this summer?
