Snow Drops & Snap Peas may be signs of spring, but here at TTL they also represent changing seasons. To my mind yesterday's autumnal equinox was the perfect day to release my new shawl pattern "Snow Drops & Snap Peas". (Little Miss Sofie looks skeptical in the photo below though, doesn't she?)
This semi circular shawl is worked from the center top outward, with bands of lace separated by gently rippled stockinette. I've made mine with Quince & Company Chickadee in one of my favorite shades of green. I love it, but I'm always thinking of the next project and I'd really like to make one in cozy alpaca to keep my neck warm this winter. Or maybe I'll another made with a soft tweedy yarn like Rowan's Felted Tweed.
Sizes: M[L] (shown in size M)
Measurements: 50[63]” across top edge, 22[28]” from top edge to lower edge
Gauge: 13 sts & 20 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Snow Drop Lace pattern
Yarn: Quince & Co. Chickadee, 100% American Wool, 181 yards (166m)/50 g skein, Color: Snap Pea, 4[6] skeins
Needles: US 7 (4.5mm) 32” circular or size to obtain gauge
Additional Materials: Stitch Markers, Tapestry Needle

Thanks to everyone who entered my contest to win a copy of . Using a random number generator Tanis was selected to win the prize. The book is on its way to her. Meanwhile, in a sweet twist of events, I won a prize in my own contest! When I wrote to Tanis to notify her that she had won, she wrote back and offered to send a few skeins of her gorgeous yarn for me to design with! It turns out that this Tanis is the talent behind Tanis Fiber Arts. How could I refuse? Look at those colors!! She sent two skeins of her Yellow Lable DK Weight in Cobalt. They are destined to become a mitten and hat set. I can't wait until I have time to cast on. She also included a set of her beautiful note cards. (note: the image in the background of the photo is not one of Tanis's note cards, it's an etching that Sofie did last spring.)

Several weeks ago I published my Roma Shawl pattern. I first started the design over a year ago using Schoppel Wolle Zauberball. It had languised on the needles for a long, long time because I wasn't sure where I was going with it. Just before my trip to Rome I decided that perhaps the design might work better in the luscious Schaeffer Audrey that Laura Nelkin had sent. So I packed that yarn and cast on again – finishing the design in the decadent Audrey. Then about a month ago, just after I published the Audrey version of Roma, I found that original, languishing Zauberball project and had a moment of inspiration. All that shawl needed was a contrasting border to perk up the dark colorway I had chosen. After trying several options I settled on a ball of Knit Picks Palette in Tidepool Heather.
I've added these modifications to the Roma pattern and have sent the updates to eveyone who has already purchased the pattern. You can now knit two versions of this shawl and get two very different looks!
