Jeanne

Jeanne Back Meadow

Summertime finds me thinking of light, portable projects that are easily tucked into a travel bag.  Finished shawls are perfect to keep the chill off on a cool summer evening.  This explains the number of new shawl designs here at TTL.

Named for my mom, who taught me to value handwork of all kinds, "Jeanne" is worked with an easily remembered stitch pattern throughout the body and is finished with bold leaves along the bottom edge.  Thanks to the efforts of my test knitters, Amy,  Caryl, Christine and Anne; 60% Superwash Merino, 25% Mohair, 15% Nylon; 560 yards per 4 oz. Skein; Bluebell,  1 skein.

Approximate Yardage:  400[475, 550] yards

Additional Materials:
Crochet Hook Size 4mm
Tapestry needle
Scrap yarn
Place Markers

Find it here on Ravelry.

Price:  $6.00 US

It’s Been Too Long

May 23, 2009 by Kirsten 348 Comments

I am a very bad blogger.  I just realized this morning that my last post was on 5/1.
As a way of saying 'thank you' for sticking with me despite my delinquent ways, and in celebration of Memorial Day Weekend (the start of the summer season here in the US), I've decided to have a contest.

The photo above shows my latest design, Lavalette.  (See it on Ravelry for more details.)  I sent it out for test knitting this morning.  I expect the pattern to be ready in 2-3 weeks.  What does this shawl have to do with the contest?   I've got an extra skein of the yarn, Jade Sapphire Cashmere Silk.  If you haven't felt this yarn you are missing out.  The stuff is heavenly!

The winner of the contest will receive the skein of yarn (enough to knit the shawl as seen in the photos) as well as the pattern once it is complete.

Just leave a comment on this post, telling me about your favorite summer vacation.  I'll use a random number generator to pick a winner.

You have until Saturday, June 6th.  I'll announce the winner the following week.

PS.  Be sure to check back here on Tuesday (5/26).  I'll be releasing the pattern for the "Jeanne" shawl that day.

Jeanne Back Meadow

Thank you all for your overwhelming response to Ulmus.  If anyone is interested there is a knitalong for the pattern in the Through the Loops group on Raverly.

Jeanne Body Pattern

I finished my latest shawl design yesterday.  It is knit using Schaefer Anne that Laura so kindly sent me to design with.  The colorway is bluebell.  The shawl took one skein of Anne.  I love this yarn for lace.  The yardage is generous enough to get a good sized shawl, the colors are amazing as we've come to expect from Schaefer, and it blocks really, really well.

I'm sending the pattern to test knitters today, so hopefully it will be ready soon.  You'll find more details on the project page on Ravelry.

Jeanne Front Meadow

I'm off to MDS&W tomorrow.  If you're going and you see me, say "hi".

For now, I'm off to play golf in the rain.
